Crown of paper
tarnished and torn

Scepter of cardboard
dented and bruised

Cloak of foil
crumpled and worn

Kingdom of soil
broken and burned

Comments: The poem which inspired the title of this chapbook. More in the original notes.

Original Notes: The result of severe insomnia. This was a poem that came to me a few nights ago when I was running on 2 hours sleep a night for over a week. Somehow this image of a Barbie princess doll, all ratty and dirty, like it was owned by a little kid (remember Cynthia from Rugrats?) came to mind. It was weird, because I felt this urge to write something about the image and this is what I came up with. Not sure what it means, or even if it has a meaning, but I kinda like the imagery of a woman queen dressed up like a child playing makeĀ-believe.

Anyhow, threw together this little manip to go along with it, as I couldn't find anything online that was similar to my mental image.
